About the Event
John Madigan DVM, DACVIM, DACVAW is a distinguished professor of medicine and epidemiology at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He is board certified in two specialties - Large Animal Internal Medicine and Animal Welfare. He is a clinician in equine medicine at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital where he started the UC Davis Veterinary Emergency Response Team in 1990. He was a founding member of the California Animal Emergency Response committee. He is an expert in disaster and emergency response involving large animals and published over 170 peer reviewed scientific publications. He has designed large animal rescue equipment including the Anderson sling and the UC Davis Large Animal Lift. He recently designed a simplified rescue loops system for first responders and veterinarians.
